• The RoSCTL(Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies) scheme has been expanded to include apparel/garments and made-ups exports. This will help boost exports and competitiveness in the labour-intensive textiles industry.
• Union Minister Smriti Irani has expressed the Textile Ministry's strong support for collaborating with engineering organisations for machinery production to reduce the industry's reliance on imported machine tools. Over a five-year period, the scheme aims to develop the Man-Made Fiber(MMF) apparel and technical textiles industries by offering incentives ranging from 3-15% on specified incremental turnover.
• The Weaver MUDRA Scheme was established to assist handloom weavers/weaver entrepreneurs by offering up to Rs. 10,000 in margin money per weaver. The loan comes with a 6% interest rate and a three-year credit guarantee.

• Gorakhpur is on track to become a major garment manufacturing centre, boosting the eastern Uttar Pradesh economy. The Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority(GIDA) will provide entrepreneurs with four acres of land for the development of a flattened factory.
• In March 2021, toys were identified as one of the 24 primary sectors listed under the self-reliance India initiative. Toys are the focus of a "National Action Plan" developed by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade(DPIIT), which calls on several central ministries, including textiles, MSME, I&B, Education, DPIIT(under the Ministry of Commerce), and others, to nurture and promote the industry.
• The government has extended the benefit of the Scheme for Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products(RoDTEP) to all exported goods beginning January 1, 2021, in order to encourage exports.
